Why exactly am I supposed to care about Ryan and Marissa?

I tried. I really tried to get into The OC. In fact, I was pretty successful for the first few episodes of the first season. I caught on to the charm of Adam Brody right way, and he made this show worth watching for a while. But what really perplexes me, is how did Mischa Barton and Ben McKenzie ever get cast on this show??

Mischa Barton is beautiful, yes, if you go for that kind of perfection. (I know, I know, what guy doesn't, right?) But she can't act! She's totally wooden; no personality to speak of. Frankly, she is totally annoying.

And Ben McKenzie - he must have bribed someone to get on this show. Look, I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he really just sucks. Has no personality, no sex appeal,nothing at all. And we're supposed to like this guy? We're supposed to believe that this guy is some rebel from Chino? Yeah right.

As if this wasn't bad enough, these two characters are supposed to be the basis for this show. The Romeo and Juliet of Orange County. We're supposed to root for them to get together and then stay together. I'm left wondering , Why? I hate these two. Why would I want to watch two people with zero charisma?

Personally, I'll take Volchok any day. He's a breath of fresh air. Ryan Atwood can't hold a candle to this guy.
