For those of you not watching as diligently as I am; a cheat sheet to the contenstants.
Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, Brian Friedman, Dan Karaty, and my personal favorite, Mia Michaels are all back for the second season of So You Think You Can Dance. Even better, Cat Deeley has replaced the personality-challenged Lauren Sanchez. But who are the rest of these people? Thus far, the contestants are fairly interchangeable. Who's who on So You Think You Can Dance?: Dmitry: 23, New York, NY. Ballroom dancer. At first I thought this guy was just a cheeseball, but his cheeseballiness is growing on me. Ashlee: 21, Dallas, TX. Hip Hop dancer. She hasn't made much of an impression on me yet. Ivan: 18, Aliso Viejo, CA. Hip hop dancer. I don't know about this guy. He strikes me as just a smug, white, hip hopper. Allison: 18, Orem, UT. Modern lyrical dancer. I don't usually like lyrical, but Allison has proven she can do anything. Plus she's cute as a button. I like her. Benji: 22, Redlands, CA. West coast swing dancer. As I said in my blog, att first this guy bugged the daylights out of me. But he is growing on me really fast. Donyelle:26, Studio City, CA. Jazz and Hip hop dancer. I like her because she's real. She's struggled with a weight problem, but she's a good dancer in spite of that. She's partnered with Benji and I think they are the ones to beat. Jaymz: 20, Orem, UT (does he know Allison?), Jazz, Hip hop, Ballroom. As soon as I saw how he spelled his name, he was doomed. Plus, he's only an ok dancer. Jessica:18, Pembroke Pines, FL. Ballet. This girl is utterly forgettable. I can barely think of what she looks like. Musa: 28, Camden, NJ: Hip hop, Street funk. I like him. He's good. But not good enough, or versatile enough to make it the final 4. Natalie: 22, Tampa, FL. Lyrical, Jazz. Who? Hmm.. I guess that's not a good sign. Ryan: Brooklyn, NY. Contemporary. He could be a dark horse in this competition. Because he doesn't really stand out, but his dancing has always been good. Very versatile. I like him, I think. Heidi: 24, Cliffside Park, NJ. Latin, Ballroom, Swing. I believe she is Benji's cousin. She's a strong dancer, but she needs to let her personality come out more. Travis: 18, Virginia Beach. Lyrical, Jazz. Who? Oh, the guy with the funky haircut. Other than the haircut, he's forgettable. Not a good sign. Martha: 18, Raleigh, NC. Contemporary hip hop. This girl really needs to step up her game, because she is utterly forgettable. Stay tuned as I keep you posted on the dancers' progress; both in the contest, and in my personal opinion.
