Josh Hopkins

Go-to television guest star

My guilty-pleasure guest star is in need of a good TV series.

There are very few actors that make me think, "I'll watch this because he's in it," but Josh Hopkins is one of those actors. He is my guilty pleasure, and one that television executives apparently share, because he is the ultimate go-to guest star. Either that, or he has a really good agent. Probably both. Anyway, my point is that I'm a Josh Hopkins fan. And while I'm very disappointed that he doesn't seem to be returning to Cold Case as Lily's love interest, there is still plenty of Josh Hopkins to go around. Despite (ok, because of) Pepper Dennis's cancellation, we're lucky enough to see him on two shows this fall.

First, when a pivotal part in Vanished needed to be re-cast, it was Hopkins to the rescue. As an old flame of the missing Senator's wife, Hopkins is intense, sexy, and, probably more important given the nature of this show, believable. (Spoiler alert ) Sources tell me that he dies, which is disappointing, but perhaps that means he'll be available to be a series regular on Brothers & Sisters .

On the ABC show, he plays Ally Mc... er Calista Flockhart's love interest and liberal counterpart to her conservative pundit on a political TV talk show. Think Mary Matalin and James Carville, because sparks fly. Although Hopkins is not a series regular on this show (yet), here's to hoping that he will be, assuming that the show is A: Good enough to actually watch, and B: Doesn't get cancelled.

Of course, if it does get cancelled, that will make him available to be a series regular on Cold Case. Hey, a girl can hope.
