Logan’s fate was unknown after being stabbed by his mentally unstable wife Martha (Jean Smart). Itzin was on the show for two years as the intriguing President Charles Logan. In 24’s fifth season, viewers found out, he was the main bad guy involved, while in Season #6 he was on a quest for redemption, and to regain Martha’s love. Please note spoilers for season 8 are mentioned. Charles Logan’s Role In Season #5:Charles Logan was first introduced in the later stages of 24’s fourth season as the Vice President. He became President after the death of a President in a plane crash. At first he was a bumbling, indecisive President who heavily relied on others’ advice. In Season #5 that wasn’t the case. The season began with a state visit by the Russians, who narrowly avoided being assassinated. The season comes to a climax, as viewers find out Logan was the master plotter behind the major threat. Actor Gregory Itzin played the character well. He kept viewers guessing as whether or not Logan was the true bad guy. There were a few memorable scenes, including one where Logan realized he’s lost. He takes a gun, and sits in a half-darkened room. The viewers don’t know whether he’s going to pull the trigger. Logan also features in one of the most memorable scenes in the fifth season. In the second last episode, he’s taken hostage by series hero Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) in a helicopter. He rails against his fate, justifying his actions while Bauer sits there in silence. Viewers wondered Will Jack kill him? Logan’s Role In 24: Season 6He survives and returns for the show’s sixth season. This time, his goal is redemption. He’s been jailed for his part in season 5’s plot, and has lost Martha as well. He’s begun realizing the error of his ways, and wants to help Jack Bauer unravel the plot. They wanted to enlist Martha to help unravel the plot, and when they visit her Martha ends up pulling a knife and stabbing Charles. Logan’s season ends as he is taken off in an ambulance, his fate unknown. Logan’s Storyline in Season #8Fans often speculated on Logan’s fate throughout the show’s seventh season, and the way the story was written there were plenty of opportunities for the character to reappear. But he stayed gone, and surprise bad guy Tony Almedia turned to be the main bad guy for the seventh season. In 24’s eighth season Itzin will bring his character back for a multi-episode storyline. President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones) will be forced to turn to the disgraced former President for help in a diplomatic crisis. Executive Producer Howard Gordon remarked in the L.A. Times on the presence of two acting heavy-weights: “The opportunity for these two remarkable actors to share the screen was simply too compelling to pass up.” This season switches setting again to New York. After retiring, Jack Bauer (Sutherland) resumes life as an agent after learning of an assassination plot against a middle-eastern leader. Returning cast members besides Itzin, and Jones include Annie Wersching (Renée Walker) and Mary-Lynn Rajskub (Chloe O’Brian) Looking forward to 24’s Return? Check it out January 17th.
