Giuliana and Bill Rancic Talk about Their Show
The Reality of These Newlyweds on Style Network

When the Style Network produced a wedding special featuring E!s Giuliana and her Apprentice-winning husband Bill Rancic, over five million people turned in to watch. Now they are showing the public how they are surviving as newlyweds living almost two thousand miles apart.
Bill is based in Chicago. He runs a real estate and construction business, as well as travels around making speeches. Giuliana is an anchor on E! News and is based in Los Angeles. They are basically living apart most of the time, however they are making their marriage work and by having this reality show, are inviting the viewers to see how they are coping.
The Style Network describes this show as a romantic comedy.
A Loving Look at the Couple
At the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Bill stated, “This is a very positive show [and] it makes being married cool.” When asked about some of the other newlywed reality shows that have shown the downside of marriage which have resulted in divorce, Bill feels this show is different and he and Giuliana are different people than those other reality show newlyweds (namely Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey). “It's just a very positive, very loving show because that's who we are, and it's very authentic, I think,” Bill explains.
They both have lucrative careers so they didn’t need to do this show for the money. “This isn't something we had to do,” says Giuliana. “Style approached us because our wedding special did really well on their network, which we were happy about, and they said, ‘People want to see what your life is like after walking down the aisle.’ So, it was funny at first. We thought, ‘This will be fun. These shows these days are pretty controlled. I mean maybe we don't have to show everything.’ So we started shooting, and we shot one episode, and I'll be honest, it was tough. We were going to pull the plug at the end of that episode.”
Giuliana thought twice about it. “I make a living off of interviewing the celebrities and getting personal things about celebrities. If I can't do the same thing and let viewers see my life, then I'd be a hypocrite.”
Bill chimes in, “In life you've got to take risks, and this is one more adventure in our lives that we thought this will be fun. It's something that we haven't done, and let's give it a try.”
The Reality of Giuliana and Bill
They insist the show is not about their careers. As Bill explains, “It's about after we leave work and what life is like at our home, and our home is pretty much like everyone else's home. I think people are going to be able to identify with that.”
Giuliana is happy about how the show is shaping up. They alternate spending weekends in each other’s city. “I've been very lucky to have a wonderful boss who lets me shoot from Chicago on Mondays when I'm there, which is really nice. We've been getting good feedback about that. People like to see us out in the field especially in a place like Chicago.”
Giuliana and Bill airs Wednesday nights on Style.
