Television favorites from old classics such as Columbo and Bewitched to newer series including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Just Shoot Me appear on DVD this month. Check local and online stores for your personal favorites from the sample of new releases below.

Dramatic Television DVD Releases for February 2009

  • Columbo: Mystery Movie Collection 1990 (February 3): Peter Falk as the shrewder-than-he-looks detective in episodes from the 1990s.
  • Melrose Place: The Fifth Season, Volume 1 (February 10): A four-disc set with a portion of the episodes from season five.
  • Murder She Wrote: The Complete Ninth Season (February 17): Five-disc set of the popular mystery series starring Jessica Lansbury.
  • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit – The Eighth Year (February 17): More stories about how the criminal justice system deals with sexually based crimes in New York City on a five-disc set.

Comedy Television DVD Releases for February 2009

  • The Partridge Family – The Complete Fourth Season (February 3): Three-disc set with episodes about the rock-and-roll family, including Laurie posing as Keith’s date and Danny pretending to be Jewish.
  • Night Court – The Complete Second Season (February 3): Twenty-two episodes from 1985, including the one where Christine Sullivan (Markie Post) is introduced as substitute defender.
  • Bewitched – The Complete Seventh Season (February 3): A four-disc set with more fun from the nose-twitching witch married to an advertising executive.
  • Sabrina the Teenaged Witch: The Fifth Season (February 17): A three-disc set of the series starring Melissa Joan Hart.
  • The Beverly Hillbillies: The Official Third Season (February 17): Five-disc set about an uneducated family of hillbillies that moves to swanky Beverly Hills after finding oil on their property.
  • Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder (February 24): A feature-length story about those ethically challenged futuristic animated characters from the Futurama series (also on Blu-ray).
  • Just Shoot Me: The Complete 3rd Season (February 24): A three-disc set of the popular comedy series about working at a magazine, starring David Spade and Laura San Giacomo.

Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror Television DVD Releases for February 2009

  • Mystery Science Theater 3000: Volume XIV (February 3): Movies in this 14th collection: Mad Monster, Manhunt in Space, Soultaker, and Final Justice.
  • Tales from the Darkside – First Season (February 10): Three discs full of fear-inducing stories.
