For Idol Fans Favorite to Win, Fans Can Not be Complacent

In past seasons, American Idol fans have used various voting strategies to vote as much as they could for their favorite contestant.
Voting By Phone
This week, both Kris Allen and Adam Lambert will have three phone numbers each for their fans to call in and vote.
To maximize vote for their favorite contestant, fans with both a land line phone number and a cell phone should vote with phones to figure out which line they can get through the best on.
Also, instead of dialing the number each time, fans can hit redial on their land line phone. With a cell phone, when Ryan Seacrest gives out the numbers after the contestants perform, they can be programmed into the cell phone, then put on speed dial for easier and faster dialing during the voting window.
Voting By Text Messaging
Both Allen and Lambert will each have one designated number for fans with AT&T cell phone service can send their votes in via text messaging.
After fans send their first vote in via text message for either Allen or Lambert, American Idol will send the fan a confirmation text confirming that they voted for the contestant of their choice. Fans should stop to read the confirmation text quickly to double-check that they voted for the correct contestant of their choice.
Fans will only receive the confirmation message once . After that, fans can vote as many times as they want or until they can no longer feel the ends of their fingertips.
Voting Strategies
Last year, during the season seven David Cook/David Archuleta finale, a new voting strategy became started to trend among fans of the singers after AT&T introduced their "Go Phone", which are pre-paid cell phones.
The idea with the Go Phones was that fans on opposite coasts could buy a Go Phone and swap it. For instance, an Idol fan on the east coast would buy a phone for an Idol fan on the west coast and vice versa, so fans of Cook and Archuleta could vote double the amount of time.
Adam Lambert's fans have rallying behind this voting strategy.
On IdolForums.com, fans on the message board have an ongoing topic full of tips for voting, including how to vote with an AT&T Go Phone.
The big benefits according to the Idol Forum members about voting with a Go Phone are:
- Able to group text, which means sending more votes in at a time
- Sends text messages faster than a regular cell phone
- No busy signals, which fans would come across when dialing the contestant's phone number

Allen was able to nudge out contestant Danny Gokey during Top 3 week with an unexpected performance and unique rendition of Kanye West's hit song, "Heartless".
Judge Randy Jackson told Allen after his performance, "That was better than the original."
Host, Ryan Seacrest said during the results that only one million votes separated the two contestants who had made it into the Top 2 American Idol finale.
Last year, David Cook took the Idol title over David Archuleta with a voting margin of 12 million votes.
If fans want their favorite to win albeit Allen or Lambert, the key will be to vote.
American Idol airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays on FOX.
