Food Network is debuting a new food series with an adventurous twist. Extreme Cuisine with Jeff Corwin explores the cuisines from cultures around the world, many of which are strange and unfamiliar to modern culture. The Food Network series debuts on Thursday, September 17, 2009 and will air on Thursday nights at 9 PM ET.

Extreme Cuisine a Journey of Culinary Adventure

In a recent interview, Corwin introduced the show are follows:

"Extreme cuisine is a journey of adventure where we travel around the world and look at the relationship that people have with food. We are really trying to get into the dish itself, into the cultural experience and explore how food is often the glue that binds a culture."

In the quest to examine food from different cultures around the world, Extreme Cuisine will travel to exotic regions including Greece, Morocco, Peru, the U.S. Pacific Northwest. The United Kingdom, Louisiana and Hawaii.

The cuisines of cultures around the world may not seem appealing to the palate used to packaged food and fast food, but the series will definitely offer food for thought. In cultures without access to modern conveniences, such as refrigerators or even electricity, the people have sustained themselves for centuries.
