Wedding planning, infidelity and proposals . . . oh my!
On Sunday, May 13, 2007 Wisteria Lane was full of amateur scandals thanks to Edie plotting to keep Carlos close to her, Lynette having a health scare, and Gabrielle stealing Susan’s dream wedding. Patience not being a virtue Susan believes in, she decides to take matters into her own hands and asks Mike to marry her. After Mike accepts her proposal, Susan goes into Robo-Bride mode and calls everyone she knows (from her guests to her florist and caterer) letting them know that the wedding is back on, only with a different groom! Ecstatic about her upcoming nuptials, Susan tells all her friends that her and Mike are getting hitched and the wedding is back on however, one lady on Wisteria Lane is far from enthused about her plans. Gabrielle breaks the news to Susan that she can’t make it to the wedding because she is planning her wedding on Susan’s big day. After all, when the date magically opened up Gabrielle knew all her closest friends would be free, not to mention all the vendors Susan was planning to use would be available as well. Furious with Gabrielle for copying her wedding, they get into a vicious argument. Later they make up over a box of chocolates and bottle of wine and decide the perfect solution is to have a double wedding. Clearly this is a decision influenced by one too many glasses of vino. Panicking the next morning, the ladies confess to their future grooms what they have decided. Luckily both men are against it and Susan and Gabrielle are able to call off the double wedding without hurting each other’s feelings. However, while Susan is now happily planning her new fall wedding, Gabby is left doubting her future with Victor after he confesses their wedding will be an invitation for a media frenzy, after all, why would he be so attentive to all the minute details of the wedding? Certainly it’s because of the publicity, not his bride-to-be Gabrielle. Not all the characters of Wisteria Lane are living in committed bliss. While Edie wants to take her relationship with Carlos to the next level, Carlos is content to live on his own in his new bachelor pad now that Mike has officially moved in with Susan. Upset that Carlos doesn’t want to live with her, Edie conspires against him and talks his new landlord into tearing up his lease agreement. Convincing her the Carlos is a drug user and a man whore, Edie is thrilled that her plan works when the landlord evicts Carlos. Smelling “Edie” all over the eviction, Carlos confronts her about why she would do this to him. She demands to know why he won’t move in with her and he reluctantly admits that he is not in love with her. Telling him that’s too bad, she shows him the pregnancy test she just bought. As they wait to find out the results Carlos assures Edie that he will be there for her if the test turns out positive. After getting exciting about the prospect of becoming a father, Edie breaks the news that the test is negative however proposes that he still move in with her and they can try to have a bay together. Thinking that he is tired of waiting for his life to start, he takes Edie up on her offer however little does he know, she is conspiring to keep herself from getting pregnant by continuing to take the pill. Desperate to save his marriage, Tom talks his old college buddy to visit the pizzeria without telling Lynette that he is a marriage counsellor however she’s no fool, she knows a scheme when she sees one and abruptly ends the “therapy” session. Trying to find ways to connect with his wife, Tom suggests they be intimate to try to connect with each other. Lynette however says she’s not in the mood. Frustrated, Tom gives her a choice, she can either be intimate or she can talk to him. Not wanting to discuss what’s bothering her, Lynette pounces on Tom to shut him up. Horrified that Lynette would rather have sex than talk about her feelings, Tom demands to know what has her so angry with him. She finally admits that she knows he forced Rick to leave the pizzeria because of his feelings for her. Since Rick confided in her about his feelings, Lynette had to fire him. While Lynette and Tom are in the heat of their argument, she falls off the bed and hits her head on the nightstand. Later, while at the hospital, Lynette find out that she may have lymphoma.
