Celebs Play Are You Smarter than a Fifth GraderJeff Foxworthy Hosts Celebs Playing for Charities Friday Nights in July
The Fox game show, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader puts one adult on the spot to see what he/she does or doesn't remember from school.
Summer 2009, celebrities will be taking up the challenge to show how smart they are, or how much information they have not retained. That’s another way of saying how dumb they are. Actually, it isn’t fair to use this term, as most of us tend to lose a big percentage of our schooling knowledge over the years. It just goes to show that old adage: If you don’t use it you’ll lose it. Celebrity ContestantsJeff Foxworthy hosts this often-funny show. His celebrity guests will be Larry the Cable Guy, Jack Hanna, Star Jones, Bill Goldberg, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Dean Cane. On Friday, July 10, 2009 at 8 PM ET/PT, comedian Larry the Cable Guy will play for the Arnold Palmer Medical Foundation. The following Friday, July 17, animal expert Jack Hanna plays for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium Partners in Conservation, and television personality Star Jones plays for the East Harlem School at Exodus House. On Friday, July 24, professional wrestler Bill Goldberg faces the tough questions on behalf of The Pogeria Research Foundation. And boxer Sugar Ray Leonard will also answer the tough questions for a charity to be announced at a later date. Rounding out the month of celebrity challenges, on July 31 actor Dean Cain will play for the Lollipop Theater Network, Inc. Jeff Foxworthy HostsThe show has been a hit among viewers, and Jeff Foxworthy has proven himself to be a great and entertaining host. His comic background often comes into play. The groups of fifth graders are entertaining and bright and prove that there are some kids who do listen in school. While some of the questions might be difficult for people who have not been in school for many years, these kids have recently learned the information, although sometimes they don’t know the answers. The longer someone is away from school, the more information they don’t remember, providing they were alert when the lessons were being taught. This show is fun as well as educational. After all, everyone can use some updating and refreshing. While much of the information covered is not information many of us use in our everyday lives, it is still worthwhile to remember. And for those viewers playing along with their school-age children, it gives them more incentive to reach back into the recesses of their brains to retrieve the facts and figures. The Celebrity Series of Are You Smarter than A Fifth Grader? runs Friday nights in July on Fox from 8 – 9 PM ET/PT.
